Invented in the 1940s by Joe Sheridan at Foynes Airfield, Ireland, to warm up cold, tired American passengers.

  • 1.5 oz (45 mL) Irish Whiskey
  • 4 oz (120 mL) Hot Coffee
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) Brown Sugar
  • 1 oz (30 mL) Heavy Cream (lightly whipped)

    Fill a glass mug with hot water to pre-heat; discard the water.

    Add brown sugar and hot coffee, stir until sugar dissolves.

    Add Irish Whiskey and stir.

    Gently float the heavy cream on top (do not stir the cream).
